2006-07 Roads Report

Barbara Coe, Roads Chairman

Expenses this year were under budget but some larger ticket items did not get done. For example, a new grate for the broken one on Lake Trail East in front of Jacobsens has been in the works for over a year now and still hasnt been replaced. The township engineer (Tracy Teribio) had promised to get us a new one but when the item he had requested came through it wasnt the correct size so we were back to square one. Chris Backshall has been looking into finding something that will work.

The road repairs were kept to pothole damage control while we explore more major solutions to the road deterioration. We have several estimates for varying degrees of road upgrades but havent made a final determination of what we will do. We are working with Fox of the Township to assess the different estimates and decide which is most workable for us.

Meanwhile, we are building up our Roads Reserve fund so when we do start resurfacing we will have some cushion for our expenses. We have pretty much agreed not to do another chip and seal treatment and will continue to explore solutions to the tarring that treatment has produced in hot weather.

My thanks to all the energetic road crew volunteers who turned out for our spring and fall cleanups. Thanks, also, to people who have alerted me to problemsIm counting on everyone to be monitoring problems they see and reporting them to me so I can get them taken care of.
