Mt. Kemble Lake Country Club

Annual Meeting, June 19, 2009

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was scheduled as part of the June TGIF.  Guests were invited to the TGIF dinner at 6:30 PM.  Members who were unable to attend the TGIF for dinner were invited to come for the meeting and dessert at no charge.

Carl Bonar, Country Club President, called the meeting to order at 8:03 PM.

Ruth Chaney, Country Club Secretary, called the roll.  A quorum was achieved via 41 proxies and 52 people present.  The minutes were approved as written.

A moment of silence was observed for Millie Kiernan, Sandy Weber and Barbara Jensen who have passed since our last meeting.  No new community members were present, although house closings have taken place or will take place very soon.  The Ruesser, Wawczak and Weber homes have recently sold.

Mick Merenda, Bar Chair, reported that the house Sauvignon Blank was no longer available and he had a replacement at the bar for consideration.  Samples were available upon request.  Again, any community member having any requests should let him know. Phil Van Kirk thanked Mick for his Ògreat serviceÓ at keeping the bar stocked and current.

Karen Sabol, Social Chair, ran down the list of social activities for the year apologizing for not getting all the events covered.  She said the ChildrenÕs parties were all very successful and in particular the Open House which combined adults with children was successful.  The use of email is her means of communicating with the community because it can be done at late hours. Work and family leave her limited time to accomplish this during the day.

Chris Allyn said she did an excellent job of incorporating as many people as possible in our social events.  The guilt is not hers if people have not stepped up to the plate and volunteered.  The Social Calendar for 09-10 begins with a TGIF in August and the Labor Day Party.  An easel with signup sheets has been placed in the back of the room so when the meeting is adjourned members can check what activities they would be willing to work on.

Carl Bonar discussed the treasurerÕs report prepared by David Dietz.  The ChildrenÕs Halloween Party appeared more expensive this year than the past several years because in previous years a donation had been given for the express purpose of the party by Ian Varney and Bob Noftel.  For the 2008-09 planning year the Country Club will contribute $1000 to MKL.

Thanks to the Association, we have seen several improvements to the clubhouse: All interior trim has been painted as well as the kitchen walls, new trash containers have been installed on a concrete bed,  outdoor lighting has been repaired in some cases and totally new lighting installed for better evening visibility.  An ice maker will be installed behind the bar as well as rearranging the locked cabinets to allow for easy reach of liquor for the bartenders.  The ladies room sinks will be worked on next as well as window treatments for the main ballroom (noise abatement).  The basement heating pipes were insulated to prevent heat lose and monetary savings!  After reviewing all of the clubhouse projects Carl asked for, but did not receive, any new ideas for projects.

New Business:  John Murray reported that the bridge on 202 connecting Morris and

Somerset Counties is scheduled to be closed for replacement for six months.  The present plan is to reroute all traffic down BaileyÕs Mill to LeeÕs Hill to North Maple Ave.  A meeting will be held at the Harding Twp. Town hall on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 11 a.m., or Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Betsy HallsworthÕs House at 120 Village Rd. at 7:30 pm.  John will put this information on our Lake website.  John is asking anyone who can come and be heard to come and be heard!

Jane Kendall chaired the nomination committee.  Ruth Chaney reviewed the slate of candidates because no nominating committee members were present: David Dietz (incumbent), Nancy Barrett, Nicole Bridge and Lynn Edgar.  Carl called for a short recess while everyone voted and had dessert.  The meeting was called back to order at 8:45 after votes were collected and counted.

The election results were given:  Nicole Bridge and David Dietz were elected for two year terms.

Without further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Ruth Chaney

Mt. Kemble Lake Country Club Secretary
