Summer Roads Report

Our Summer Road Patrol for 2009 passed without any problems — thanks very much to Bill Manser, the Qualbens, Sullivans, Chaneys, Heidens, Kuchlers, Densons, McGoldricks, Bonars, Baum-gartens, Duffys, Edgars, D’Esterhazys, McCabes, and our sub, The Murrays.  I am most grateful for your diligence throughout the summer.

With summer came the patching of many pot holes on our roads, brought on by the last two winters of wear and tear.  Chris

Labor Day Lobster Bash a Success!

Seventy two residents and guests enjoyed a lobster (alternate steak) dinner with friends and neighbors on September 6th at the Clubhouse. An abundant harvest of lobster and corn, and several savory concoctions for hors d’oeuvres and desserts, filled out the menu.

The Committee included Christine Davies, Sally Curtiss, Joan and Gil Fitzhugh, Susan and Austin Godfrey, and Nancy Morrison. Chair Barbara Coe thanks them all, as well as Carl Bonar, Fenton Chaney, and Mick Merenda, for their help and hard work in making the evening fun and successful!  We are also grateful to the New Vernon Volunteer Fire Department for loaning us their lobster-steaming and corn cooking equipment so we could economize on the food preparation.

Backshall’s people did a wonderful job. I called on them to get the roads and drains back in shape after our Sunday drenching rain in August (they were here a 8 AM Monday)! Again, a very professional job.

Looking forward: The
Fall Cleanup has been scheduled for NOVEMBER 21st!  You can begin your own properties before this date so you can join neighbors on Saturday to tend our community properties. A sumptuous luncheon will follow, at the Clubhouse.
