To
Between now
and Thanksgiving, the dredging of the Lagoon will be done. The Lagoon, located adjacent to the
Clubhouse, is the small pond that was intentionally constructed as a silt trap
for muddy water entering our lake system.
It is necessary to dredge the Lagoon about every five or six years. It was last done in 2004.
The Lagoon
will be emptied while the dredging is done and water from the incoming stream
will be pumped directly into the Breeder Pond (the next larger part of our lake
system). While the Lagoon is empty,
needed repair work will be done to restore the bank at the farthest end of the
Lagoon (where the pipe carrying water from the stream enters the Lagoon). Years of drainage from the road has eroded
that bank to the point that runoff water is now threatening the road. That erosion was accelerated with the heavy
rains that we have experienced this year.
The
Association has engaged H. W. Alward of Basking Ridge
to do both the dredging and restoration of the Lagoon bank. Spoils from the Lagoon will be dumped at the
“ball field” (the area at the end of Trail’s End where spoils from the lake
dredging have been deposited in the past).
The dumping will not impact the newly constructed
While the
work is in progress, you may experience some inconvenience with dredging
equipment and trucks removing material and bringing in soil and rock to rebuild
the bank. At this point, we do not
expect that any road closing is required.
Should that have to occur, we will notify you.
The cost of
the dredging was included in the current year’s budget. The cost of the bank restoration will be
covered by anticipated under spending in the current year’s budget.
Thank you
for your patience while this needed work is accomplished.

NOTE;
A different subject for boat owners who have boats at the beach or Fishin’ Hole. Please store them inverted on the racks or on the grass for
the winter. Presently, there are several
boats filled with water at the lake’s edge.
Thanks.
