ROADS- jbcgsc928@aol.com

The hole in the beach parking lot has been repaired thanks to the help of volunteer: Ken Heiden, Jim Irving and Feilim Maxwell.  Various pot holes throughout the community are scheduled to be repaired this week.  Summer road patrol has commenced.  The list of participants will be distributed shortly.

GROUNDS - dianebonar@gmail.com

Diane asked Chris Backshall to cut back more overgrown areas within the community.  She is also looking for volunteers to help water and prune.

HOUSE KEEPING - joyce@jjmurray.us

Liquor has been moved from the closet to the locked cabinets behind the bar.  White cloths were into the old liquor closet including 100 new napkins recently donated by participants of a recent party.

CLUBHOUSE MAINTENANCE - Bincomm@verizon.net

Guy Bowden replaced the hand rails for the steps on the deck.  The ice machine, which was paid for by Country Club was installed behind the bar.  Bruce is investigating repairing the front door in the most cost effective manner.  Reminder:  the outside faucet needs to be turned off during the winter months.

BEACHES AND DOCKS - d.kuhn15@yahoo.com

Austin spoke on behalf of Don.  The road and wall next to the lagoon in front of the Bierly’s property needs to be repaired.  The lagoon needs to be dredged as well.  Don has asked Paul Fox to complete an engineering study.  Once the study is complete the Board will make a decision on how to proceed.

Joyce noted that a rope and sign indicating where boats/kayaks should be placed on the beach needs to be installed.  Beach season has just begun and already boats have encroached upon the beach area.

Austin will ask Don when the 2010 beach badges will be issued.  Until then Barbara will note in the newsletter that 2009 badges should be used.

WATER SYSTEM - ribarrett@aol.com

The tanks overflowed on Thursday night due to a problem with the controlling system. Bill Manser, Agra and the company that installed the computer system are working toward a final resolution.  With respect to the pipes, all valves were exercised and hydrants and blow-off valves were opened.  This process helped to remove sediment and air from the system as well as improve the longevity of the pipes and cleanliness of the water.

COMMUNITY AFFAIRS - WaffCoe@aol.com

The newsletter will be distributed shortly.  Joyce offered to host a welcoming party for three new families.

TREASURER - robert.yingling@gmail.com

Austin spoke on behalf of Bob.  Finance Committee information is scheduled to be distributed shortly.

Currently, there are liens on three properties.  A suggestion was made to modify the existing penalty clause in the by-laws to cap the penalties incurred so that they are not greater than the outstanding dues and interest.  To date, five residents are behind in dues, although one has made partial payments.

A six month finance report will be distributed to the community at the end of July.

OTHER BUSINESS

Environmental Stewardship Committee

The Board discussed the following:

·        Define the ESC mission as educational.

·        Non-educational proposals should be submitted to the Board.

·        The ESC would be required to submit any material that was being sent out to the community to the board for approval before distribution.

·        Solicit new members via the newsletter (include the names already submitted to the Board)

Nominating Committee

Joyce will paraphrase MKL Board job descriptions for the nominating committee to use when soliciting a new slate.

Dog Park Proposal

Rick reviewed the new dog park proposal, which can be found on the MKL website. Debate ensued and residents set forth various reasons opposed to and for the proposal.  The Board agreed to poll the community in the upcoming weeks to assess to community’s position toward the project.

Meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Priscu
