Further information from bear sighting at Bill Canada's home LTE:

The police gave alot information that Bill would like to pass along:

The bear has been in this area and will remain in this area and keep hunting for food until he is fattened up and ready for hibernation Mid December.

1. Don't leave Garbage out.

2. When you go outside or for a walk-- do not take coffee with you - the bear can smell the coffee, sugar or honey added and can approach you just with that.

3. Pie pans clanging together should scare bear off, however, a bear was already in the garbage at the home behind Barrett Field and the pots and pans did NOTHING-- Police said that the bear will not pay attention and will not stop if he has found food to eat.

4. Do not leave food in your car or cook with windows open - the smell will attract the bear.

NJDEP had a lot of great info as well  - especially for homeowners...thank you Jen Siegler for providing this site:
