TGIF Has Lakers Singing
for Their Suppers

A hardy turnout on the eve of the end-of-February snowstorm featured a Depression-era theme of “Sing for Your Supper.” Guests were treated to a variety of foods that included veggie pizzas, cabbage soup, black bean/beef/rice and vegetarian bean/rice entrees with shrimp, beef, & chorizo on the side, plus salad and topped by an “Apple Pan Dowdy” dessert that was anything but dowdy!

Thanks to the Curtiss family for leading the party with cuisine, drinks, and entertainment. Thanks, too, to all who shared their singing, joke-telling, and reminiscences, including Ken Heiden, who demonstrated an amazing feat of memory by reciting the whole of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven”!

Dog Park  Discussion to be
Held March 6, 10:30 am
at the Clubhouse

Come to the Clubhouse to discuss the proposed development of a Dog Park area in the community on Saturday morning. Many residents feel this would be an attractive addition to the Community’s facilities, comparable to the tennis court, children’s play area, boat-launching dock areas, and picnic table at the beach. Please join the discussion with your thoughts and suggestions.

Road Cleanup Coming Up!

Thankfully the snow season should be over by now!  Thanks to all  for keeping cars off the roads so the snowplows could get through.

Gail Chalfant, Roads Chair, asks  all to save the date: April 17, for the next Road Cleanup and Luncheon. The spring and fall road cleanups are great opportunities to get out of the house, meet your neighbors, clean out our drains, spruce up our yards, and enjoy a great luncheon together afterwards.

Remembering Mary Van Kirk

The Community joins Phil, Larisa, Davor, Vedran, Elle, and Greg and his family in mourning the loss of our dear Mary just before Christmas. Not only was she a pillar of our Mt Kemble Lake community but she served the community at large in innumerable ways, receiving the 2008 Distinguished Citizen Award from the Harding Township Civic Association. She will be sorely missed.

Condolences can be emailed to phil.vankirk@verizon.net, and in lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice or to Community Enterprise Solutions (www.cesolutions.org) in care of George B. Glickley at 112 15th Ave, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785.
