I'm not sure who should post this, but I'd
like some form of reminder sent around to all lake people because today a large
and beautiful (pregnant) box turtle was smushed by a
car in front of my driveway because someone was not paying attention. The
eggs were rolling down the road and it was really sad. I'm hoping that some of
them can hatch anyway, but I doubt it.
Just because the houses are more sparse
around the ends of Lake Trail East and West, it does not mean that people
should speed up. There's the playground (often with kids), the lagoon (also
often with kids near it) AND the animals (especially the turtles
crossing).
Folks have just got to slow down and look at the
road. A cracked in half turtle with its unhatched
eggs is a very sad sight.
