VSA Dinner honors volunteers
The annual “thank you” dinner for water reader volunteers (our Vital Statistics Analyzers) was held Saturday evening, May 14. Again Bobbie Coulter and Carl Bonar outdid themselves in providing a sumptuous feast for volunteers and their spouses/significant others. |
Beach Cleanup a Family Affair!
A great turnout of the younger beach set provided extra man/woman power for our spring Beach Cleanup, held May 14, before the rains came.
Ruth Chaney, Chair of Beaches and Docks, organized the annual removal of leaf and debris buildup from the beach inlet and provided a great picnic spread luncheon as reward for the effort expended. Coffee and doughnuts kept energy levels high and the cloudy weather held for the morning’s activity. Volunteers hauled truckloads of gunk raked out of the water, weeds were whacked and pulled, the patio was scrubbed, and all things made ready for beach season 2011. Ruth thanks the energetic beach cleanup crew as well as the additional helpers who attacked the poison ivy problem in the tree above the picnic area. Ongoing work will address the erosion problem, which again would be alleviated if it would just stop raining . . . . Nevertheless, the beach is ready for use so Come On Down! Be sure to wear your badges and observe beach regulations.
Note that you should be present when guests are using your badges—they are not for general distribution.
