Don Kuhn Honored

The Morris Chamber of Commerce has honored Don Kuhn with the 2013 William P. Huber Award, “given to an individual who has consistently shown outstanding community leadership.”

Don has been actively involved with Morris Habitat for Humanity, serving as a board member, board chair, early supporter of the ReStore, advisory team chair and member of the ReStore advisory team, weekly volunteer at the ReStore, and “helpful whenever needed.”

Our Mount Kemble Lake community is thankful to have Don and Teeny as active members of our community as well!

Our Lake (continued)

be upon us as the joy of living in this special place reveals itself again for another year. There are a few basic steps that every member of this community can take to protect our lake.

1) Have your septic cleaned every two to three years. (A maximum of five year intervals will soon be mandated by law.)

2) Control the use of toxic chemicals in your home and yard. Fertilizers can be purchased that do not contain phosphorus.

3) A barrier of shubs, trees, etc., separating your lawn from the lake is the best filtration system for keeping toxins from running directly into the Lake.

—Hope to see you all at Beach Clean-up on May 17th!—Ruth

More in Memoria

The community is sad to announce the recent loss of two more of our members. Theresa Jones passed away February 16; her husband Ray died last May.  Ray and Theresa  were residents on Primrose Trail of Mt. Kemble Lake since 1976.

Hank Gordan passed away in Florida on March 5. He has been with Cacky Bell here at the Lake since 2001.  A memorial service  for Hank will be held at the Clubhouse, May 3 at 11:00 am. All are welcome to attend.

Remembering Ginny Holt

Virginia Holt died suddenly this weekend in Florida after a brief illness. The daughter of Betty D’Esterhazy, Ginny grew up at the Lake. She was 37. Please offer your condolences to Pete and Betty at this difficult time. (They received the shocking news only Saturday the 29th that she had died overnight in the hospital, where she had been admitted after a visit to the Emergency Room for respiratory distress.)

The family plans to hold a Memorial Service for Ginny later in the spring. Meanwhile, they will post an obituary on our Web site.

Garden Plots Available!

Spring is almost here and it’s time to think about gardening. There are plots available in the garden if you’re interested. If a full plot feels overwhelming we can divide them.

If you already have a plot but are no longer interested, please let me know so I can re-assign your area. 908-204-9043
