Marjan Persian Grill

Marjan is directly
across the street from the HQ theater which is also
the best place to park. We ate at Marjan several
times in November and December and had a good experience each time. The
appetizer combo platter to share is an excellent way to start of with a taste
of what’s to come. All were excellent, including dolmeh
and Mast-o-Khiyar (like a tzatziki
but lighter and with a hint of mint), and plentiful flat bread. The entrees of Khoresht-e-Gheimeh (Yellow split peas and beef in a dark
tomato sauce) and Koresht-e-Fesenjoon and its veggie
brother (boneless chicken in sweet and sour pomegranate sauce and crushed
walnuts) were particularly interesting. For dessert, the Persian ice cream was
unlike any flavors I have previously experienced (rose water and saffron), the
baklava was lighter than usual in Greek/turkish
cuisine without heavy honey and the melon smoothie (Abe Talebi)
was really flavorful. Marjan is not formal, BYOB, and
is friendly with great food. We saw a movie and then crossed the street to eat
all on the same free parking you get from the theater. If the movie is long
and/or your dinner is unhurried, you may have to pay extra, however.
