In June of 2010, a group of 32 Mt Kemble Lakers and friends boarded an antique
steam train at
Steamtown in Scranton PA for a 104-mile round trip excursion to the
Delaware Water Gap for the town’s "Founders Day" celebration. The "Founders Day"
excursion crossed the beautiful Pocono Plateau, through tunnels, along creeks and
rivers, past lakes and ponds, and through East Stroudsburg on its way to the historic
town of Delaware Water Gap. The town had planned station tours, displays and
special events.   Steamtown itself is worth a trip to see a wonderful collection of the
biggest (UP "Big Boy") and some of the smallest engines built in the steam era.
Steamtown is worth a trip all by itself, but coupled with the
Trolley Museum and
Anthracite coal mine and museum makes a wonderful and exciting multi-day trip.
