Spotlight on Grounds Committee Diane Bonar chairs
the Grounds
Committee, whose task is to
oversee maintenance of the grounds at the Clubhouse (flower boxes, cherry
tree, etc.) as well as upkeep of all the public areas, including playground equipment, tennis court, fire
lanes, and the community garden. This year there were
two areas of focus: the beach area and the entrance to Lake Trail East.
Several trees were removed from the beach area and also much undergrowth from
both areas. The committee received much positive feedback for this work. Diane’s core
committee includes Gail Allyn, Joyce Murray, and Charlie Priscu. Others whose work deserves a big round of
applause this year include John Murray, Carl Bonar, Cacky Bell, Steve
Collier, Ken Heiden, Bruce Scolnick, and Newton White (and his work
crew!). Thanks also to others who have
cleaned up, pruned, and spruced up other areas of the community as well! The Committee’s goal
is to keep the grounds safe and looking nice.
We are looking into developing plans for vacant community property. If
you’d like to be a part of the process (even if not of the workforce) please let
Diane know (425-2580). There is a lot
more to do and we aren’t ready to hang up our tools for the year just yet!

****** Wire Fencing Alert! Please check any
wire fencing that may pose a hazard to our neighborhood animals. The
D’Esterhazy cat on Lake Trail West returned home with lacerations that
apparently resulted from becoming entangled in someone’s fencing. ****** Treasurer’s Link The email for Mt

Fall Road Cleanup a Success! Gail Chalfant, Roads
Chair, thanks all 58+ who turned out for the roads cleanup on November 22nd.
Despite the cold weather, spirits and energy were high and the leaf and
branch debris was removed from drains and roadside gutters. Efforts were well rewarded by Carl Bonar’s
luncheon offerings of pulled pork sandwiches and homemade chicken noodle
soup! Many thanks to Carl (see below) for the delicious cuisine. Gail also wishes to
thank Cacky Bell for coffee support, the Murrays for water transport, the
Merendas for beer and soda, and Ray and Theresa Jones for the photos—which
can be viewed on the Web site, thanks to Webmaster Dwyer! The common areas we all share look just
beautiful, and the Community really looks spruced up. ****** |
