2011 Organizational Efficiency

The management of Community assets and facilities had historically been split between the Association (MKLA) and the Lakeshore Company.  This often led to duplicate work and inefficient use of our volunteers (our most precious resource!). We were also collecting separate dues into each of these two corporations on uncoordinated billing cycles that confused Members and make extra work for our volunteer treasurers.

In January 2012 Members voted to implement an approach where MKLA leased all assets from Lakeshore and became solely responsible for all financial and operational management of Community assets. MKLA became the sole entity levying and collecting dues and assessments.
