NOMINATING COMMITTEE AND SELF-NOMINATIONS
FOR BOARD ELECTIONS FOR 2020
Would You Like to Serve on the Nominating Committee?
In accordance with the Association By-Laws, by October 1st the Association Board is required to appoint a Nominating Committee of five Association Members (who are not current Board members) to nominate candidates for the upcoming Board elections. As a first step in the process, the Board has appointed Lori Denson to chair the Nominating Committee. In addition, the Board is seeking additional volunteers who would like to serve on the Nominating Committee.
If you would like to serve on the Nominating Committee, then please notify chairperson Lori Denson by September 20th (see her contact information below).
The first meeting of the Nominating Committee is tentatively scheduled for the evening of October 3rd.
Would You Like to Nominate Yourself or Another Member for Election to the Board?
In accordance with the By-Laws, any Association Member in good standing may nominate himself or herself as a candidate for the Board election, or may nominate another Member in good standing who is willing to run for election. Remember that you can run for the Board even if you are not always at home due to work or travel, because Board members can have committees to assist them and to substitute for them in their absence.
The names of all candidates for election shall be submitted to the Nominating Committee for inclusion on the election Ballot. In addition, the Nominating Committee will nominate additional candidates to ensure that the number of candidates exceeds the number of upcoming Board vacancies. Board members’ terms are for two years, and five seats are up for election this year.
After the election there will be a meeting of the existing members and newly elected members of the Board, at which the Board will reorganize itself and determine its officers and committee chair assignments for the coming year.
